Narthang Monastery (Tib. སྣར་ཐང་, Wyl. snar thang) — a Kadampa monastery founded in 1153 by one of the followers of Atisha. It is located west of Shigatse. It was famous for its teachings and monastic life. Later it became one of the oldest of Tibet's scriptural printing centers.
