Seven kinds of cognition (Tib. བློ་རིག་བདུན་, Wyl. blo rig bdun) said to have been introduced into Tibetan epistemology by Chapa Chökyi Sengé:

  1. direct perception (མངོན་སུམ་, mngon sum)
  2. inference (རྗེས་དཔག་, rjes dpag)
  3. subsequent cognition (བཅད་ཤེས་, bcad shes)
  4. correct assumption (ཡིད་དཔྱོད་, yid dpyod)
  5. inattentive cognition (སྣང་ལ་མ་ངེས་, snang la ma nges)
  6. doubt (ཐེ་ཚོམ་, the tshom)
  7. false cognition (ལོག་ཤེས་, log shes)
