The nine similes of illusion occur in this verse from the Diamond Cutter Sutra:
- Like a star, hallucination, candle,
- Magical illusion, dewdrop, bubble,
- Dream, lightning, or a cloud—
- Know all compounded phenomena to be like this.[1]
