The five insignia (Tib. ཕྱག་མཚན་ལྔ་, Wyl. phyag mtshan lnga) are the hand implements of the buddhas of the five families:
- Buddha family: eight-spoked wheel
- Vajra family: vajra
- Ratna family: jewel
- Padma family: lotus
- Karma family: double vajra or sword.
