Elemental spirits (Skt. bhūta; Tib. འབྱུང་པོ་, jungpo, Wyl. 'byung po) — a class of harm-inflicting spirits, who are sometimes counted among the hungry ghosts. They can obstruct rainfall and so are propitiated by rain-creating rituals. They can also invade the psyche and cause mental problems.
