Formations (Skt. saṃskāra; Tib. འདུ་བྱེད་, du jé, Wyl. ‘du byed) — the fourth of the five skandhas.
Subdivisions
In Abhidharma, formations are divided into:
- concurrent formations (i.e. concurrent to consciousness), which are the fifty-one mental states, and
- non-concurrent formations which are neither matter nor cognition.
