Ratnamegha Sutra, or the Jewel Cloud Sutra (Skt. Ratnamegha-sūtra; Tib. དཀོན་མཆོག་སྤྲིན་གྱི་མདོ།, Wyl. dkon mchog sprin gyi mdo) — an important sutra for the exposition of shamatha and vipashyana in the Tibetan tradition. It is considered to be the first sutra translated into Tibetan by Thonmi Sambhota.[1]
Text
Although the Sanskrit of many passages is preserved in the excerpts cited in the Indian shastra literature, the Ratnamegha Sutra as a whole is no longer extant in Sanskrit.
Four versions of the sutra are, however, available in Chinese translation.
The Tibetan translation (late eighth or early ninth century) is found in the General Sutra section of the Kangyur, Toh 231.
- English translation: Dharmachakra Translation Committee, The Jewel Cloud
