Gendun Gyatso (Wyl. dge 'dun rgya mtsho) (1475–1541) — the Second Dalai Lama. Born in a noble Nyingmapa family of Tsang, Gendun Gyatso will only be formally enthroned in his monastery of Tashi Lhungpo at the age of eleven, after having received a number of empowerments and teachings of both the Nyingma and Sarma schools from his father who was a great Nyingmapa yogin.
