Definitions

In the Khenjuk, Mipham Rinpoche says:

  • Tib.
  • Pretension is to deceive others through what is untrue, pretending to possess virtuous qualities which one doesn’t have, for the sake of such things as honour and gain. It belongs to the category of delusion and desire, and forms the support for the destructive emotions and subsidiary destructive emotions, as well as for wrong livelihood. (Rigpa Translations)
  • Pretense is to deceive others through what is untrue, pretending to possess virtuous qualities which one is not endowed with for the sake of such things as honor and gain. It belongs to the category of delusion and attachment, and forms the support for disturbing emotions and subsidiary disturbing emotions, as well as for leading a perverted life. (Erik Pema Kunsang)
