Sönam Tsemo (Tib. བསོད་ནམས་རྩེ་མོ་, Wyl. bsod nams rtse mo) (1142-1182) was one of the five patriarchs of the Sakya school. During his childhood, Sönam Tsemo's main teacher was his father Sachen Kunga Nyingpo. He is the author of a famous commentary on the Bodhicharyavatara. He was a direct student of Chapa Chökyi Sengé (1109-1169) and based his commentary on his teacher’s own commentary.
