Shantideva [Skt.] (c.685-763) - the author of The Way of the Bodhisattva (Bodhicharyavatara [Skt.], Chönjuk [Tib.]). He was a Mahayana scholar and siddha, and a follower of the Prasangika-Madhyamika method of Buddhapalita and Chandrakirti. He also wrote the Shiksasamuccaya [Skt.], the Compendium of Training, and the Sutrasamucchaya, a compendium of the major Mahayana teachings. See also Nalanda.
