Avatamsaka Sutra

Although the Avatamsaka Sutra is usually quoted as a scriptural proof for Mount Wutai Shan, it became clear that this reference is only found in Chinese versions of the scripture. It is observed that Chinese translations of Buddhist scriptures were purposely edited as to create further scriptural authority and support for recognising Wutai Shan. Thus it is debatable whether this and other statements found in the sūtras were actually meant to refer to Wutai Shan and not to some other mountain whether in this or other-worldly. See: Mary Anne Cartelli, The Five-Colored Clouds of Mount Wutai: Poems from Dunhuang (Leiden: Brill, 2012), 38 and 43. (Stefan, 21 August)

Interesting fact! Maybe it's worth working it into the article? --Sébastien (talk) 09:09, 22 August 2017 (CEST)

Ok I inserted it into the main article, I guess then we don't need a scriptural quotation (Stefan 22 August 2017 )

Major Buddhist Pilgrims

I don't really think this is a good title because I don't think some of the people in the list could be called pilgrims, i.e. Shri Singha, Vimalamitra (he's still there ;-)) --Sébastien (talk) 09:09, 22 August 2017 (CEST)

True, before it was called Major Tibetan Buddhists... :-) that of course doesn't fit either :-) ... the problem is also that we are here not listing any of the great Chinese figures. Thus, we cannot just call it Major Buddhist Masters, if we do, we would have to list at least a few Chinese (Stefan, 22 Aug 2017)

Major Temples & Pilgrimage Sites

I still want to fill in this section slowly, with pictures and details for pilgrims, especially related to our lineage. --Sébastien (talk) 09:09, 22 August 2017 (CEST)

Sure please do, I just thought an empty field looks rather strange :-), but if this serves as a reminder, please keep it in (Stefan 22 Aug 2017)
