Vehicle (Skt. yāna; Tib. tekpa; Wyl. theg pa) - that which carries us along the spiritual path to our final destination.

Categories of vehicle

The buddhist teachings are often classified according to yanas, most commonly into the two yanas, the 'basic' or 'individual' vehicle (Skt. hinayana) and the 'greater' or 'universal' vehicle (Skt. mahayana), or the three yanas. The Nyingma tradition also classifies the teachings into the nine yanas.
