Ten powers of a buddha

There are two different sets of ten powers, those of a buddha and those of a bodhisattva. The ten powers of a buddha (Skt. daśa-tathāgata-bala; Tib. དེ་བཞིན་གཤེས་པའི་སྟོབས།, Wyl. de bzhin gshegs pa’i stobs) are:

1. Power of knowledge of what is possible and what is not possible (Skt. sthānāsthānajñānabala; Tib. གནས་དང་གནས་མ་ཡིན་པ་མཁྱེན་པའི་སྟོབས།, Wyl. gnas dang gnas ma yin pa mkhyen pa’i stobs)
2. Power of knowledge of the individual results of actions (Skt. karmasvakajñānabala; Tib. ལས་ཀྱི་རྣམ་སྨིན་མཁྱེན་པའི་སྟོབས།, Wyl. las kyi rnam smin mkhyen pa’i stobs)
3. Power of knowledge of different practices leading to various destinies (Skt. sarvatragāminīpratipajjñānabala; Tib. ཐམས་ཅད་དུ་འགྲོ་བའི་ལམ་མཁྱེན་པའི་སྟོབས།, Wyl. thams cad du ’gro ba’i lam mkhyen pa’i stobs)
4. Power of knowledge of the different dispositions and tendencies of different beings (Skt. anekadhātunānādhātujñānabala; Tib. ཁམས་སྣ་ཚོགས་མཁྱེན་པའི་སྟོབས། , Wyl. khams sna tshogs mkhyen pa’i stobs)
5. Power of knowledge of the different aspirations of beings (Skt. nānādhimuktijñānabala; Tib. མོས་པ་སྣ་ཚོགས་མཁྱེན་པའི་སྟོབས།, Wyl. mos pa sna tshogs mkhyen pa’i stobs)
6. Power of knowledge of the different degrees of development of the faculties and inclinations of beings (Skt. indriyaparāparyajñānabala; Tib. དབང་པོ་མཆོག་དང་མཆོག་མ་ཡིན་པ་མཁྱེན་པའི་སྟོབས།, Wyl. dbang po mchog dang mchog ma yin pa mkhyen pa’i stobs)
7. Power of knowledge of the absorptions, deliverances, concentrations, and attainments (Skt. dhyānavimokṣasamādhisamāpattijñānabala; Tib. བསམ་གཏན་དང་རྣམ་ཐར་དང་ཏིང་ངེ་འཛིན་དང་སྙོམས་པར་འཇུག་པ་ཐམས་ཅད་མཁྱེན་པའི་སྟོབས། , Wyl. bsam gtan dang rnam thar dang ting nge ’dzin dang snyoms par ’jug pa thams cad mkhyen pa’i stobs)
8. Power of knowledge of previous lives (Skt. pūrvanivāsajñānabala; Tib. སྔོན་གྱི་གནས་རྗེས་སུ་དྲན་པ་མཁྱེན་པའི་སྟོབས།, Wyl. sngon gyi gnas rjes su dran pa mkhyen pa’i stobs)
9. Power of knowledge of the deaths and births of beings according to their actions (Skt. cyutyupapādajñānabala; Tib. འཆི་འཕོ་བོ་དང་སྐྱེ་བ་མཁྱེན་པའི་སྟོབས། , Wyl. ’chi ’pho bo dang skye ba mkhyen pa’i stobs)
10. Power of knowledge of the destruction of the impurities (Skt. āsravakṣayajñānabala; Tib. ཟག་པ་ཟད་པ་མཁྱེན་པའི་སྟོབས། , Wyl. zag pa zad pa mkhyen pa’i stobs).
