Eight subcontinents (Wyl. gling phran brgyad) - there are two subcontinents for each of the four continents which surround Mount Meru according to the cosmology of the Abhidharma. The eight subcontinents are:
- Deha (lus)
- Videha (lus 'phags)
- Cāmara (rnga yab)
- Aparacāmara (rnga yab gzhan)
- Sāthā (yo ldan)
- Uttaramantriṇa (lam mchog 'gro)
- Kurava (sgra mi snyan)
- Kaurava (sgra mi snyan gyi zla)
