སེམས་
སེམས། (Wyl. sems) n. Pron.: sem
- attention AW
- mind. Slightly wider in scope than ཡིད་, སེམས་ resembles a person's fore-structure of thought that has decided in advance how something is to be 'thought of' or interpreted. It does not deal with wholes, but with isolatable objects (ཡུལ་), and it insists on the separation between the observed (གཟུང་, 'that which is to be grasped') and the observer (འཛིན་, 'the one who graps').
