Deities of the three seats

The forty-two deities peaceful deities of the three seats (Tib. den sum tsangwé kyilkhor) or categories are as follows,

• The aggregates (skandhas) and elements (dhatu) are the seats of the five male and five female buddhas--the seat of the buddhas
• the sense faculties and their objects are the seats of the eight male together with the eight female bodhisattvas and the six munis--the seat of the bodhisattvas
• the limbs are the seats of the male and female wrathful deities, which are here the four male and the four female gatekeepers who are in a wrathful form but part of the forty-two peaceful deities--the seat of the wrathful deities
