Prajñakaramati

Prajñakaramati (wyl. shes rab ‘byung gnas blo gros) (950-1030)was one of the six doors keepers of Vikramashila. Learned in all sciences he had direct visions of Mañjushri. Especially when he had to debate with non-buddhists he would invoke him, the embodiment of the wisdom of all the buddhas, enabling him to give the appropriate answers and win the discussion. Prajñakaramati is especially known in Tibetan Buddhism for what is considered the main Indian commentary on Shantideva’s ''Bodhicharyavatara''.
