འཛིམ་པ། (Wyl. 'dzim pa ) Pron.: dzimpa

  • Skt. शृङ्गारः, śṛṅgāra, Pron.: shringara. From Sanskrit: prob. connected with | as | with | love (as 'the horned' or 'the strong one' ?), sexual passion or desire or enjoyment | in | the erotic sentiment (one of the 8 or 10 Rasas | it has Vishṇu for its tutelary deity and black for its colour | to most authorities it is of two kinds, viz. | 'mutual enjoyment', and | 'deception, disappointment', to which by some is added as third | a dress suitable for amorous purposes, elegant dress, line garments, finery | the ornaments on an elephant (•esp. red marks on its head and trunk) | any mark | also with | N. of various persons (•esp. of a poet) [Mahavyutpatti] [Sanskrit] MVP MW
