Benchen Monastery
Benchen Monastery (Wyl. ban chen phun tshogs dar gyas gling) — a Kagyü monastery in Gawa, Kham, which was the monastic seat of the Sangyé Nyenpa and Tenga tulkus. It was founded by the Fourth Sangyé Nyenpa, Gelek Gyamtso, in the seventeenth century. After its destruction during the Cultural Revolution, Benchen Monastery was re-established in Swayambhunath, Nepal; it is also under reconstruction in Tibet.
