- the first Karma Kuchen Rinpoche, Karma Tashi (1728-1791)
- Karma Lhawang and Karma Döndam
- the second Karma Kuchen, Gyurmé Ngedön Tenzin Palzangpo (1794-1851)
- Gyatrul Rinpoche, Pema Dongak Tenzin (1830-1891)
- the third Karma Kuchen, Orgyen Dongak Chökyi Nyima (1854-1906)
- the second Drubwang Pema Norbu, Tupten Chökyi Langpo (aka Palchen Düpa) (1887-1932)
- the fourth Karma Kuchen, Karma Thekchok Nyingpo (1908-1958)
- the third Drubwang Pema Norbu (b. 1932)
His Holiness Penor Rinpoche has appointed the fifth Karma Kuchen (b. 1970) as the head of the Palyul Mother Monastery in Tibet in 1994. On 14 August 2000, he was formally enthroned as the lineage holder of the Palyul tradition and will become the 12th throne holder of the Palyul lineage.
