Thirty-five buddhas of confession - In the opening verses of the Sutra of the Three Heaps, homage is paid to the thirty-five buddhas of confession. They are:

  1. Shakyamuni, the perfect buddha, the conqueror, the holder, the transcendent one, the thus gone, the one victorious over the enemy
  2. The One Who Has Fully Conquered with the Diamond Essence
  3. The Jewel Radiating Light
  4. The Sovereign King of Nagas
  5. The Leader of Heroes
  6. The Glorious Joy
  7. The Jewel Fire
  8. The Jewel Moonlight
  9. The Meaningful Vision
  10. The Jewel Moon
  11. The Stainless One
  12. The Glorious Giving
  13. The Pure One
  14. The Giving of Purity
  15. The Water Deity
  16. The God of Water Deities
  17. The Glorious Goodness
  18. The Glorious Sandalwood
  19. Infinite Splendour
  20. The Glorious Light
  21. The Glorious One Without Sorrow
  22. The Sun of Non-Desire
  23. The Glory of Flowers
