Kshatriya
Kshatriya (Skt. kṣatriya; Tib. རྒྱལ་རིགས་, Wyl. rgyal rigs) means “warrior” or “royalty”; the second of the four castes of traditional Indian society, along with priests, merchants, and servants. As the son of the Shakya king, Shuddhodana, the soon-to-be Buddha Gautama belonged to the kshatriya caste.
