Ayang Rinpoche (1942-2024) — a Tibetan Buddhist lama well known for both his charitable work and his authority and expertise in phowa training. He was a lineage holder of both the Nyingma and Drikung Phowas.

In order to preserve Tibetan Dharma and heritage, His Eminence Ayang Rinpoche founded the Amitabha Foundation in 1989. Completed projects have included clinic and ambulance, new school and material support in the Kham region of Tibet and Opak Kyilkhor Chöling (the Amitabha Mandala Retreat Center) located in Kopan, Kathmandu Nepal

New Construction continues at Rinpoche’s monasteries located in Bylakuppe and Mondgod settlements in South India, as well as the Bodhgaya Amitabha & Phowa Centers for learning and practice.
