The sutra known as The Question of Maitreya on the Eight Qualities (Skt. Maitreyaparipṛcchādharmāṣṭa; Tib. བྱམས་པས་ཆོས་བརྒྱད་ཞུས་པ།, Wyl. byams pas chos brgyad zhus pa) is found in the Ratnakuta (Heap of Jewels) section of the Tibetan Kangyur (Toh 86).
In this short sutra, the Buddha explains to Maitreya the eight qualities necessary for a bodhisattva to complete the path to buddhahood. In explaining the final quality, the Perfection of Wisdom, the Buddha teaches the doctrine of the twelve links of dependent origination in forward and reverse order.
