The Four Sacred Caves of Sikkim have been blessed by Guru Rinpoche. They surround Tashiding the spiritual centre and heart of Sikkim in the four directions. They are:
- The Hidden Cave in the East (Wyl. shar phyogs sbas phug)
- The Secret Cave of the Dakini, or Womb of the Dakini, in the South (Wyl. lho mkha’ ‘gro bzang po or shang phug)
- The Cave of Great Bliss in the West (Wyl. nub bde chen phug)
- The Cave of the Heart of the Deity in the North (Wyl. byang lha ri snying po)
