Khenpo
The term khenpo has different meanings:
-It is a title given,in the Nyingma, Sakya and Kagyu schools, to someone who after completing the nine years course in Buddhist teachings given in a shedra, shows learnedness and, in some schools, also an attitude in accordance with the teachings. In the Nyingma school, after their studies are completed students are requested to teach for three years in a shedra before they can be given the title of khenpo.
-It can also refer to the abbot of a monastery.
-And the preceptor from whom we receive ordination.
