Gyurme Kunzang Tenpé Nyima (Tib. འགྱུར་མེད་ཀུན་བཟང་བསྟན་པའི་ཉི་མ་, Wyl. 'gyur med kun bzang bstan pa'i nyi ma) aka Nangdzé Drubpé Dorje (Wyl. snang mdzad grub pa'i rdo rje) (1910-1959) was the sixth Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche.

Biography

He was born in Golok in the Iron Pig year, to the chieftain Akhyung Drasar, and recognized by the fifth Dzogchen Rinpoche. When he was first taken to Shechen Monastery by his parents, as he arrived at a bridge before the monastery, an old woman with wild looking hair and dressed in maroon clothes appeared and said, 'My son has come', and offered him a silk scarf (khata). As Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche writes[1], this was none other than the uncommon protector of his lineage, the protectress Durtrö Mamo.

When he was enthroned at Shechen by Shechen Gyaltsab Rinpoche and Kuwön Gelek Gyatso, he was given the name Gyurme Kunzang Tenpé Nyima Shedrup Chökyi Gocha. He received many empowerments, including the Rinchen Terdzö from Shechen Gyaltsab Rinpoche. From Khenpo Drayang, he received teachings on the Guhyagarbha Tantra. From Khenpo Rigdzin Özer he received teachings on Jikmé Lingpa's Treasury of Precious Qualities and Lochen Dharmashri's commentary on the three sets of vows. On account of his exceptional intelligence, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche tells us, even before he began his formal studies in the art of prosody, he composed songs of realization and pieces of advice in a beautiful poetic style.

From Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö he recieved the entire Rinchen Terdzö, the twenty-five visions of the Great Fifth Dalai Lama, and the complete revelations of Ling Jedrung Pema Drodül. He also received the empowerments and reading transmissions for the mind terma of Tseyum Tsendali from Pema Shyepa, the King of Ling, and was appointed the custodian of these teachings, during which time the inner offerings began to boil and the smell of amrita pervaded his residence.

He received the reading transmissions for the Kangyur and the Nyingma Gyübum from Troshul Khen Rinpoche Tsultrim Gyatso.

He travelled to Central Tibet, and visited Mindroling Monastery, where he granted the empowerments and transmissions of Rinchen Terdzö. At the same time, he received the transmissions for the revelations of Pema Lingpa from Dordzin Gyurme Sherab, a cycle he later offered to Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö.

It is thought that he passed away on the tenth day of a lunar month in 1959 in a chinese hospital near Derge.
