Sönam Detsen (Tib. བསོད་ནམས་ལྡེའུ་བཙན་, Wyl. bsod nams lde’u btsan)[1] (1910-1958) was recognized as the body incarnation of Dudjom Lingpa by Gartrul Düdul Wangchuk Lingpa. As the son of Tulku Trimé Özer, Sonam Deutsen was a grandson of Dudjom Lingpa.
Sönam Detsen studied mainly with four teachers:
- Katok Chaktsa Padma Trinlé Gyatso
- Tertön Sogyal
- Tulku Dorje Dradül
- Tulku Trimé Özer
He lived, taught and assumed the leadership of Dartsang Kalzang Gompa[2], Dudjom Lingpa’s seat in Golok. A tertön himself, he revealed more than five volumes of termas.
Sönam Detsen's consort was Garza Chöying Drolma, a daughter of Sera Khandro. One of his sons is Choktrul Doli Nyima (b. 1946).
