Ling Lama Chöjor Gyatso

Ling Lama Chöjor Gyatso aka Ling Lama Orgyen Chöjor Gyatso and Golok Lang Lama Tupten Chökyi Jorpa was a highly accomplished Dzogchen master. In the early part of his life, he was a student of Patrul Rinpoche and later he became a student of Dudjom Lingpa.

On his master’s instruction, Lama Kedrup left Dudjom Lingpa in Golok with other senior students and made the long journey to Pemakö to find the reincarnation of his master: Dudjom Rinpoche, to whom he became a root master.

In Pemakö, when Dudjom Rinpoche was seven years old, Ling Lama Chöjor Gyatso requested him to give a public teaching on Shantideva’s major work by saying to him: “When you were Dudjom Lingpa, your son, Dodrupchen Jikme Tenpe Nyima, gave a public teaching on Shantideva’s Guide To the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life when he was eight years old. It’s only right that the father should give this teaching at the age of seven and no later than seven and a half. Yes, by then, you must teach the first four chapters, and so you’d better start studying”.

Ling Lama Chöjor Gyatso gave to Dudjom Rinpoche the empowerments, transmissions and teachings of the lineage of:

• Karma Lingpa
• Longsal Nyingpo
• Dudjom Lingpa

He gave him detailed instructions and teaching on:

• Ascertainment of the Three Types of Vows of Ngari Panchen Pema Wangyal.

Ling Lama Chöjor Gyatso gave to Dudjom Rinpoche instructions on the following ngöndros:

• Longchen Nyingtik Ngöndro
• Dudjom Tersar Ngöndro
• Tröma Nakmo ngöndro (of the Dudjom Tersar lineage)

After Dudjom Rinpoche’s completion of theses practices, Ling Lama Chöjor Gyatso gave him teachings and instructions on the six bardos for six months, and on Khordé Rushen.
