Gendün Drup
Gendün Drup (Wyl. dge 'dun grub) (1391-1474) - Born in a simple nomadic family of Tsang, Gendün Drup will become an incredibly learned and realized master. He began studying in the Kadampa tradition but then followed the Gelugpa school after meeting with Tsongkhapa in 1415 in Central Tibet. He will be given the title of First Dalai Lama two centuries later.
