At the age of 15, he was recognized as a reincarnation of Longsal Nyingpo by Tulku Tamdrin Wangyal (1952-2005), himself a son of Sonam Deutsen (1910-1958), the enlightened body emanation of Dudjom Lingpa[2]

Tulku Jigme Wangdrak attended Larung Gar and studied Buddhist teachings in great depth, including sutra and tantra as well as Dzogchen pith instructions and empowerments with Khenpo Jikme Phuntsok, who formally requested for Tulku Jigme Wangdrak to teach and preserve the Dudjom Tersar.

Studying with Khandroma Kunzang Wangmo

In addition to his training at Larung Gar, Tulku Jigme Wangdrak received teachings from Khandroma Kunzang Wangmo, the daughter of Patrul Namkha Jikmé. She also encouraged him to teach and preserve the Dudjom Tersar lineage.

While in Tibet, Tulku Jigme Wangdrak was responsible for the publication of many terma writings of Dudjom Lingpa and produced an original woodblock edition of the Nyingma Gyübum, published at the Derge Printing House.
