Shechen Kongtrul was a great meditator and, like Shechen Gyaltsap, took no part in the monastery's administration, which was looked after by Shechen Rabjam.[1]

His teachings consist of: "the sutras and secret esoteric tantras; the 13 volume Shechen Gyaltsap; the 32 volume Lama Mipham; gyü long mengak and meditation instructions."[1]
